We are pleased to announce that Pedro Fernández, co-founder and Managing Partner of Kinship, co-chairs a panel entitled “Portugal and Spain – From golden visas to tax considerations for high net worth individuals in search of the sun“, hosted by STEP Mid Atlantic.

Program Description:

With an increased interest in multiple nationalities, coupled with the recent and numerous news publications that highlight the Iberian quality of life and year-round sunshine, US people have begun to take notice. This panel will explore the Golden Visa and tax planning opportunities currently sought after in both Portugal and Spain, and how much planning applies to US high-net-worth individuals.

Presenters:

  • Tiago Cassiano Neves is the managing partner and adds two decades of experience in advising clients on how to navigate the complexities of private wealth and tax. Tiago advises clients on how best to structure their wealth, including real estate investment, wealth preservation, tax, and succession planning. His clients value his personable style and practical and pragmatic advice.
  • Pedro Jesús Fernández is co-founder and Managing Partner of Kinship. Coming from an international law firm, he has 30 years of experience in the world of law, with a special focus on international taxation. He also specialises in providing legal and tax advice to foreign families and companies that move to Spain to set up residence, work or start a business. His professional career is also characterised by having achieved a recognised position advising and assisting foreign investors entering the Spanish real estate market, with special emphasis on the residential and hotel sectors, as well as in the tax structuring of significant transactions.
  • Severiano E. Ortiz is a Partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Kozusko Harris Duncan (“KHD”). Severiano practices in the area of tax law, advising institutional and private clients, both domestic and international, and in individual and business tax planning matters. He focuses on cross-border transactions and tax-efficient restructurings. He advises clients regarding tax developments affecting their business, both globally and domestically. He also advises clients regarding their individual and family cross-border planning and restructuring needs: pre-immigration; expatriation; cross-border income, gift, and estate; offshore compliance.
